High School Awarded Grant to Expand School Breakfast Program

Students at Rahway High School enjoy breakfast from their new “Grab n Go” breakfast cart, which was unveiled at a celebration hosted by American Dairy Association North East on March 14, 2019 during National Nutrition Month. The school was awarded a $10,000 grant funded by the PepsiCo Foundation, in conjunction with GENYOUth, to assist in expanding the Breakfast After the Bell program, which aims to increase student access, awareness and participation in school breakfast. The cart allows students to pick up nutritious breakfast items on-the-go, including yogurt parfaits, cheese sticks and assorted milk options, providing a convenient meal experience. The grant is provided in association with the school’s Fuel Up to Play 60 program, an in-school child nutrition and physical activity program aimed at encouraging today’s youth to lead healthier lives.
