Obituary Rosalie Bosco (nee Villani)

Rosalie Bosco (nee Villani) of Linden, died peacefully at home on January 25, 2018, a day after her 89th birthday.
She was born and raised in Linden, one of seven children and the eldest daughter of Frank and Palma (nee Frangella) Villani.
Rosalie graduated from Linden High School 1946 and earned a BS in education from Boston University in 1950 and an MA from Kean University in 1988. She was a well-known and much-loved kindergarten teacher at McManus School and then School 9.
In 1952 she married Pat Bosco of Monessen, Pennsylvania. By 1963 they moved to Europe, where they lived with their three children; first in Frankfurt and then London.
One of Rosalie’s defining characteristics was her love of travel, adventure, and antiques. And she loved the opportunities life in Europe gave her to combine these interests, visiting much of Britain, Ireland, western and eastern Europe, Russia, North Africa, and the Middle East.
The family returned to the U.S. in 1982 when she began teaching kindergarten at School Six until her retirement at age 70 in 2000. She was honored by the State of New Jersey and the NJEA for her long and distinguished teaching career.
Rosalie was well-known throughout her community for her sociability, talkative nature, generosity, eccentricity, devotion to the Catholic Church and remarkable ability to maintain friendships over decades and continents.
She was a member of the Linden Lions Club, a former committeewoman of the Third Ward Democratic Club, the Linden City Democratic Club, the NJEA, and the Linden’s Men’s Retirement Club.
Rosalie is survived by three daughters, Patti Taibl, Maria Bosco, and Francine Bosco; five grandchildren, Julia Taibl, Sophia Taibl, Martha Bosco Brown, Jacob Bosco Brown, and Ali Soufraki; five siblings, Joanna Colucci, Carmella Sadry, Aida St. John, Diodato Villani, and Frank Villaini. She was predeceased by two brothers, Carmine and Francesco Villani; and sister Clara Troiano.
She was a longtime supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Smile Train charities.
