The Mountainside Public Library has scheduled the following programs for January. The Library will be closed on Monday, January 21 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Tuesday Night Movies: A Star is Born (2018) will be shown on January 8. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga fuse their considerable talents to depict the raw and passionate tale of Jack and Ally, two artistic souls coming together, on stage and in life (R). On January 15, The Seagull (2018) will be presented. Adapted from Anton Chekhov’s classic play, The Seagull explores the obsessive nature of love, the tangled relationships between parents and children, and the transcendent value and psychic toll of art (PG-13). A Quiet Place (2018), to be shown on January 22, tells the story of a family of four who must navigate their lives in silence after mysterious creatures that hunt by sound threaten their survival (PG-13). Our final movie of the month, on January 29, will be Adrift (2018). Adrift is based on the inspiring true story of two sailors who set out to journey across the ocean from Tahiti to San Diego. Tami Oldham and Richard Sharp couldn’t anticipate they would be sailing directly into one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history. Adrift is the unforgettable story about the resilience of the human spirit and the transcendent power of love (PG-13). Showtime for each movie is 6:30 p.m.
