Blu-Tri Kicks off Season of Giving

The Blue-Tri Club at Rahway High School kicked off the season of giving by donating food to fifty-three Rahway families in need. “Fifty-three families applied, and fifty-three families were given baskets,” noted club advisor Edie Rieder, who also wished to, “commend the maintenance department for pickup and delivery of the baskets, which was not a simple task.”

The food was collected from the 4 Rahway Elementary Schools (Cleveland, Franklin, Madison, and Roosevelt) as well as from the high school through donations from students, parents, and staff members. In addition, Rahway sports teams and clubs also made their own donations. The track and football teams along with the Spanish Honors Society each made a basket, and the Student Government Association made a donation of ten turkeys.

Any additional food that was not included in the basket deliveries was donated to Rahway Food for Friends. Blue-Tri President, Senior Keren Lebron, described the feeling of supporting those in need, “It makes you feel good to help others, when my family was in need we received help, and it was rewarding to give back to others in need.”

The Blue-Tri Club is a service organization at Rahway High School and one of the oldest clubs at the school. The advisors of the club are Edie Rieder and Lauren Palermo. The students leaders are President Keren Lebron, and Vice President Faith Garica.
