Upcoming Programs at the Kenilworth Public Library

The Winter Reading Program at the Kenilworth Public Library begins Monday, January 7 and concludes on Friday, February 22. Children who were registered for the Fall 2018 reading club we be preregistered for the winter session. Programs include: Mommy, Daddy & Me, a parent and child at-home reading program for children ages 2 to 5; I Can Read, a reading program for children who are just starting to read on their own from ages 6 to 8; and Club Readsalot, a reading program for children ages 9 to 12.

Lap Sit for ages 0 to 23 months will be held on the following Tuesdays from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m.: January 8, 15, 22 and 29 and February 5, 12 & 19.

Toddler Time for 2 year olds will be held on the following Wednesdays from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m.: January 9, 16, 23 and 30 and February 6, 13 & 20. Stories, puppets and music just right for young listeners will be introduced.

PJ Story Time for children ages 3 and up will be held on the following Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.: January 10, 17, 24 & 31 and February 7, 14 & 21 . Children are invited to wear their pajamas to this program, and bring along a stuffed animal, too.

NEW PROGRAM: Tech Time At The Library for children ages 4 – 10 years old will be held on Thursdays at 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.: January 10, 17, 24 & 31 and February 7, 14 & 21. Children will have an opportunity to independently explore various educational apps featured on one of the library’s Samsung tablets. Children under the age of 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult in order to borrow a tablet. A library card will be required in order to participate in this program. Headphones will be provided when using the tablets. Children are welcome to bring their own headphones or earbuds to use with the tablets too.

Lego At The Library for 4 – 12 year olds will be held on the following Fridays from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.: January 11 & 25 and February 8 & 22.

Lego at the Library is made possible by donations from the Walmart Local Giving Program and Jackie Fidurski.

Bingo for Young Children will be held on the following Fridays from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. for children ages 3 and up: January 18 and February 15. Games may include A-B-C Bingo, Number Bingo and Color & Shape Bingo. Parents must remain in the library during the program.

Bingo for Children Who Can Read will be held on the following Friday from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. in the Activity Room: February 1. Games may include Book Bingo, USA Bingo, History Bingo and Kenilworth Bingo. Parents do not participate in this program.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

The Good Tymes String Band will be entertaining children ages 2 & up and their families at The Kenilworth Public Library on Wednesday, January 16 at 10:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Foot tapping, knee slapping banjo music and songs for families with children of all ages featuring Raymond Dreitlein, Pete Hauptman and Jay Leipzig.

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. An interactive program to raise awareness about the importance of good oral health will be presented for children ages 4 and up. Dr. Mouli Surti of Pediatric Dentistry of Union will present this program on Thursday, February 7 at 6:30 – 7:00 p.m.

A Valentine’s Day Celebration will be presented by local children’s author Laura Sassi on Thursday, February 14 at 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. Children ages 4 and up will have an opportunity to listen to the story Love Is Kind read by the author and participate in a Valentine’s craft at the conclusion of this event.
