After a two and half month collection, the volunteer organization Green Summit has shipped out the collected items from their drop off location at Reeves-Reed Arboretum.

The “hard-to-recycle-items” collection drive was deemed a success for collecting 44 clean and dry mascara wands to be reused by the North Carolina nonprofit, Appalachian Wildlife Refuge. The wands will be used to help remove fly eggs and larva from the fur of animals.

This collection drive also helped to recycle 116 used gift cards and rigid type plastic cards. These will be shipped to an Ohio based company for recycling, creating 100% recycled plastic cards to be used by retail stores and hotels.

Keep an eye out for Green Summit’s next “hard-to-recycle” collection drive at the beginning of the spring season. Questions or comments? Reach out to GreenSummitNJ@gmail.com
