David Brearley’s Stevanie Rhim Recognized by Board of Ed.

On January 13, 2020, The Kenilworth Board of Education recognized David Brearley student Stevanie Rhim at a Board of Education Meeting. Stevanie has been an active leader and integral part of the Race Matters Alliance for the past two years.

Last summer Stevanie began laying the groundwork to assemble a panel of students to participate in a series of videotaped discussions surrounding difficult subjects that students often face. With the help of technology teacher, Jake Ulasevich, the first two videos titled “Conversation Matters”, were posted on YouTube and can be viewed by searching “David Brearley Conversation Matters”.

Students, teachers and administrators have all been impressed with Stevanie’s ability to bring people together and take the lead to open up conversations on sensitive topics. David Brearley teacher, Janice Marsili, stated “Stevanie is sure to make as indelible a mark on the world beyond David Brearley High School as she has made on its students and staff.”
