Westfield Historical Society to host 49th annual dinner on May 12

The Westfield Historical Society will hold its Annual Dinner on Friday, May 12 at the Echo Lake Country Club. The dinner is open to the general public. This year’s event, themed “Education in our Community,” will honor members of the Westfield community as well as highlight many of the organization’s activities, including the society’s extensive historical local archives.
Dr. Margaret Dolan, Superintendent of the Westfield Public Schools, and the entire Westfield Board of Education will be the recipient of this year’s Trustees’ Award. “The Society will be recognizing the Board’s notable contribution to the preservation of Westfield’s heritage. The Archives, a lesser known treasure in our town, have been housed at the Board of Education building for many years and the WHS greatly appreciates the services they have given us,” said Nancy Priest.
The President’s Award will be presented to Sam Mahmoud, a Trustee who is Co-Chair of the First Wednesday Luncheon Program and a longtime member of the Westfield Historical Society (WHS).
A 50-50 raffle and silent auction for historical items, wine, and a golf package will complete the evening’s festivities. The cost of the three- course dinner is $65 for Westfield Historical Society Members and $70 for non-members (a portion of which is tax-deductible). The event starts at 6 with cocktails. Dinner will be served at 6.30 p.m. To reserve your place at the dinner, kindly contact Carol Tener on 908-232-1375 or the WHS office at 908-654-1794 before May 2. Advanced registration is required.
