Union County Department of Aging (In- person at Main)

Thursday, December 1 from 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Do you have questions about services for seniors or their caregivers? Come visit the Aging Services Kiosk, speak to our specialist and get answers to your questions about: Pharmaceutical Assistance, Home Energy Assistance/USF, Cooling Assistance, Home Care, Home Delivered or Congregate Meals, Medicaid Eligibility, Social Security, Caregiver Relief Programs, Transportation.

Join Bindu Bhatt for a virtual meditation session. No experience is necessary. Bindu has practiced meditation for over 30 years and would like to share her insight.

Beginners Flow Yoga (On Zoom)

Thursday, December 1 at 6:00 p.m.

This class will lead you through the foundations of yoga postures, body awareness and alignment, relaxation of the mind, and connection with the breath. In addition, you will learn how to improve muscle strength, promote flexibility, and build your yoga program. 

Friends of the Library meeting (In-person at Main Library)

Join the Friends of the Library at their monthly meeting. New members are always welcome. Come and support your library. 

Poetry Readings and Open Mic (Hybrid at Kean University and via Zoom) 

Tuesday, December 6 at 6:30-8 p.m. 

Join notable guest poets for inspiration and read your own poem at our open mic (one poem each). Note: Participate online or at The Wilkins/Little Theater at Kean University in the Student Center (directions here). Please register to read by writing to abjette@kean.edu. This event is always very popular.

Presented by Sanford Josephson, editor of Jersey Jazz Magazine and author of Jazz Notes: Interviews Across the Generations and Jeru’s Journey: The Life and Music of Gerry Mulligan.

This workshop is for you if you’re new to PowerPoint or need a refresher. It includes starting new presentations, templates, Workspace, basic commands, presentations, saving to the Cloud for easy accessibility, and sharing your work with others. So join us for live exercises and your questions.

Kwanzaa! (In-person at Vauxhall Branch)

Choreographer, author, and dancer Walter Rutledge’s Kwanzaa Dance Party incorporates the traditional elements of the holiday while introducing new movement, art, and music concepts.
