Union Police Department Project Medicine Drop Box for Safe Drug Disposal

A ‘Project Medicine Drop Box’ has been installed at Police Headquarters on Caldwell Ave. The box is available 24/7 to safely dispose of prescription drugs.
For too many New Jerseyans, addiction begins in the medicine cabinet. The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs has developed Project Medicine Drop as an important component of its effort to halt the abuse and diversion of prescription drugs. It allows consumers to dispose of unused and expired medications anonymously, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Once medications are dropped off at Union Police Headquarters, the Police Department will be able to send them to the DEA to dispose of them according to their normal procedures for the custody and destruction of controlled dangerous substances.
The Drop Box is located at the Township of Union Police Headquarters on Caldwell Ave and is available everyday throughout the year for anyone that needs to dispose of drugs in a safe way.
“There’s no paperwork needed for it,” Police Director Zieser said. “You can just drop off what you need to dropoff and continue with your day.”
