Spring Assembly Featured Presentation by Union County’s John Prescott

John Prescott of the Union County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs presented a program entitled “Invention, Innovation & Industry in Union County” at the Assembly Room of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

During Mr. Prescott’s talk, the near full-house audience heard how Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla were both connected to Union County as was the invention of the golf tee! Guests were also surprised to hear that planes, trains, automobiles… and submarines are all a part of the rich and diverse History of Union County. John Prescott serves as the History Programs Coordinator for the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.

The Spring Assembly programs are offered to the public each Spring through the efforts of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Westfield Chapter; The Genealogical Society of the West Fields; The Miller-Cory House Museum Volunteers; The Sons of the American Revolution, West Fields Chapter; the Westfield Historical Society; and The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
