Thomas Mullin Meade of Clark Receives Eagle Scout Award

Thomas Mullin Meade of Clark, New Jersey, recently received the Boy Scout of America Eagle Scout Award. To attain this achievement, a Boy Scout must earn 25 merit badges, and volunteer to work on a sustainable service project within the community.
One of the annual Boy Scout activities is setting up the nativity scene at Saint John the Apostle Church in Linden for the Christmas season; and then taking it down afterwards.
Tommy was aware that the storage shed which housed the life-size nativity figures, as well as other materials used throughout the year, needed repair. After evaluating the original shed, it was found to be unstable. For his Eagle Scout project, Tommy chose to replace and build a new structure.
To raise the needed funds for this endeavor, Tommy orchestrated a weekend bake sale at the parish. Because of the delicious baked goods that were donated, and the generosity of the parishioners, Tommy raised enough money to pay for the materials needed to construct a new 8’ x 14’ shed.
On the weekend of September 7, 2017, with the help and talent of fellow scouts and parents, Tommy organized the dismantling and disposal of the original shed as well as the construction of the new shed.
Tommy is a student at Seton Hall Preparatory School, located in West Orange, New Jersey. He is the son of Tom and Pam Meade.
