Summit Public Library Summer Reading and Programs

Summit Public Library Summer 2022

The Summit Free Public Library’s Summer Reading Program officially begins on June 11th and will run through August 19th. The theme of this year’s Summer Reading is ‘Oceans of Possibilities’, and there will be a series of sea-themed events and other programs. Many of these events will be held outdoors, some on the Library’s front lawn under a tent. Early sign-ups mean an enhanced opportunity to read and earn more points for prizes, such as tickets to the Crayola Factory in Easton, PA!

The Library’s mission for the Summer Reading Program is to continue the long-held tradition of keeping students engaged with reading even outside of the school year, and to encourage people of all ages to continue with their creative and academic endeavors. “Our annual summer reading program encourages everyone to read for pleasure,” said Ann-Marie Aymer, Head of Youth Services, “but it is also the easiest way for children to retain the reading skills learned during the school year, and prevent the ‘summer slide.’”
