Submitted by Leona M. Seufert

You know that summer has arrived in Roselle Park, New Jersey when the Church of the Assumption’s Annual St. Anthony Italian Family Feast returns for its 18th year! Once again it will be four days of faith, fun, family, and friends, packed full of delicious homemade cooking, an Italian style Café, food venders, a beer and wine garden, non-stop entertainment and music, along with fabulous amusements, and games. The events, located on the church grounds at 113 Chiego Place, Roselle Park, will begin on Thursday, June 7 and run through Sunday, June 10. Hours are: Thursday 6 to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 6 to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, 6 to 10 p.m.
Thousands of people stop by every year to enjoy the four days that are packed full of fun for everyone. There will be delicious homemade food, specialties from local eateries along with carnival favorites that are sure to delight your taste buds. To slake your thirst and socialize with your adult friends, The Beer Garden will be serving beer and sangria, plus salty snacks.
The following entertainment has been booked:
Thursday, June 7, 6 p.m.: Fusion Dance Centre of Roselle Park will open the Feast at 7 p.m. poetry program presented by Leona M Seufert.
Friday, June 8, 6:30 p.m. Susie Karlik’s Dance Sensation of Union from 8 to 10 p.m. Featured entertainer will be Sandy & the Wanderers.
Saturday, June 9, 6 p.m. Roselle Park Middle School Percussion Ensemble; 6:30 p.m. Roselle Park High School Percussion Ensemble; 7 p.m. Saber Guild Corellia; and 8 to 10, featured entertainer, The Nerds.
And don’t forget the rides. They will have your children screaming with delight! This year all the exciting rides from Blue Sky Amusements will return along with Palladin Amusements’ great games. Be sure to stop by and take a spin at our Parish’s exclusive “Basket Wheel” for a chance to win one of over 70 theme baskets!
The Feast is also a faith-oriented celebration. On Sunday, June 10 at 4 p.m. there will be a special Mass with Rev. James Spera, Pastor of Church of the Assumption as celebrant. Immediately following the Mass at 5 p.m. there will be a traditional procession through the streets with the statue of St. Anthony accompanied with music by The Gilio Band. Once again, the beautiful 100-year-old statue of St. Anthony, that was part of the parish when founded in 1907, will be the center piece of the procession led by the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Color Corps.
Pre-Sale ride tickets, at a discounted price, will be available after all Masses starting in May. Pay-One-Price Unlimited Ride wristbands will be available at the Feast on Thursday, June 7, and Sun June 10. They are not available at presale. Also, Blue Sky Amusements, the Feast’s ride company, will once again provide coupons to save $3 off the purchase of the Unlimited Ride wristbands. These coupons will be placed at local participating retail locations in and around town.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday there will be two nightly 50/50 drawings, and a Super 50/50 will be on Sunday, June 10 at 9 p.m. Super tickets are only $10! Since this is the single largest fundraiser for the parish you’ll also be helping the parish while you are having fun.
If rain arrives on any of these days, there are alternate plans to have the entertainment for that day in the parish’s spacious Msgr. Loreti Hall. Food, cooked in the certified kitchen on the premises, will be available to purchase for take in or take out. The beer garden will be on hand with wine and beer. So, don’t let bad weather deter you and your family from a night of fun with friends.
