Library August Programs for Adults

The Scotch Plains Public Library’s summer reading theme is Tails and Tales. Adults are invited to participate in summer reading by logging each book they read or playing the library’s bingo game. Each logged book or complete bingo will be entered into a giveaway that includes gift cards to local businesses, courtesy of the Friends of the Scotch Plains Public Library. 

Bagels and Books

Monday, August 2, 10 a.m. 

Will meet outside the library, weather permitting. Come share your thoughts about what you’ve been reading.

Let’s Monet for Adults

Thursday, August 5, 5 p.m.

Will take place outside the library, weather permitting. Put your own spin on a piece of artwork with Leah Zara-Acevedo. Space is limited.

Balance Awareness

Fridays, August 6 & 27, 10 a.m. 

With Yasmin Ofek. All you need are a chair and sneakers to experience this gentle but effective approach to moving confidently throughout the lifespan.

Our Place in Space

Wednesday, August 11, 7 p.m.

With astrono-educator Bob Reichman will give you a better appreciation for where we fit among the stars.

Cookbook Club

Thursday, August 19, 7 p.m.

Will meet outside the library, weather permitting. Stop in the library to choose a recipe from our selected book, Show Up for Salad, and bring your dish to the meeting, where we’ll discuss the cookbook while we eat.

Decoding the Mysteries of Cats

Saturday, August 21, 2 p.m.

With feline behaviorist Stephen Quandt will help you understand the forces behind your cat’s behavior.

Tails and Tales Trivia

Monday, August 23, 7 p.m.

Will test your knowledge about topics related to our summer reading theme. Register as a team or on your own.

Night Sky Observation

Monday, August 30, 8 p.m. 

Bob Reichman will bring his telescope for in-person viewing.
