Scholarships Awarded to Local Students

The Bayway Complex Community Advisory Panel (CAP) awarded scholarships to seven local students at a dinner hosted at the Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery. The students will receive $1,000 each for their studies in Process Technology or Engineering at a college or university this fall.
The scholarship winners are: Danny Goncalves – Linden High School; Jordan West – Rahway High School; Luzangela Martinez – Rahway High School; Javier U. Valdivieso Palacio – John E. Dwyer Technology Academy, Elizabeth; Daniela Perez – Thomas A. Edison Career and Technical Academy, Elizabeth; David Ip – Staten Island Technical High School; Emily Chapman – St. Joseph Hill Academy, Staten Island.
Winners were selected based on their grades, leadership, school extra-curricular activities, community activities, and financial need. The scholarship awards were sponsored by the CAP member companies: Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery, Infineum USA L.P., Cogen Technologies Linden Venture, Eastman Chemical Company, Veolia North America, PSEG Linden Generating Station, and Linden VFT.
The Bayway CAP is a committee of community representatives from Linden, Rahway, Elizabeth, and Staten Island including neighbors, educators, retirees, public officials, emergency responders, and environmentalists who attend quarterly meetings that serve as a forum for dialogue between the community and company representatives.
