Rev. Brown Receives Clergy Renewal Grant

The Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township (PCCT) has announced that its Associate Pastor for Congregational Life, the Rev. Thomas A. Brown, will participate this year in the National Clergy Renewal Program, which is funded by the Lilly Endowment Inc., and administered by the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis.

This competitive program allows Christian congregations to support their pastors with the gift of extended time away from their ministerial duties and responsibilities. According to the Seminary, the grants honor pastors for their extraordinary service, and enable them to engage in a brief period of rest and renewal with the goal of invigorating their leadership and bringing new vitality to their congregations.

PCCT recently celebrated Rev. Brown’s 10th anniversary with the church, where he plays a key role guiding programs focused on mission and community service,  congregational care and fellowship, and youth and family ministries. In addition, he has been chosen as Moderator of The Presbytery of the Highlands for 2023. The Presbytery provides support and resources to nearly 80 Presbyterian Church USA congregations in seven counties in Northwest New Jersey.

Rev. Brown will take his renewal time, or sabbatical, in two six-week periods. His plans include experiences to address spiritual and personal renewal, to travel with family, and to reestablish important professional connections with mentors and former colleagues who have played a significant role in his life journey.

The Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township is a vibrant, multi-generational congregation that celebrates the glory of God through faith, fellowship and service. Drawing members from three counties and more than 20 communities, it welcomes all, whether you are a young family, a single adult, or a couple with grown children. The congregation reflects diverse perspectives, provides rich music and education programs for all ages, and through social outreach addresses hunger, homelessness and recovery from disasters or other crises.
