Summer Musical Theater Camp Was a Huge Success
Rahway Public Schools
This summer, Rahway Public Schools hosted its first annual Summer Musical Theater Camp at Rahway High School. Thirty-nine students entering grades 3-8 spent four hours, Monday-Friday, for three weeks learning about musical theater and preparing a production of “Suessical KIDS!” On the final day of camp, dozens of families, staff, and community members gathered to watch the final production in Rahway High School’s beautiful 660-seat Performing Arts Center.
The staff included Rahway High School theater teacher Mr. Zach Love, Grover Cleveland/Madison music teacher Mrs. Lindsay Jenkins, and dance teacher Ms. Deanna Flanagan, an RHS alumna. Rising RHS seniors Franciso Marques and Abby Reese also assisted as camp counselors. Supervisor of Fine & Performing Arts, Joe Elefante, said, “This year’s camp was the first in what we hope to be many Rahway Summer Musical Theater Camps for years to come. If anything, we hope to expand the camp to include more weeks and more students in future years. Camp just ended, and we’re already planning for next summer!”
