Rahway Food For Friends seeking donations
With the holiday season almost upon us, many people like to donate during this time. Here are some tips on donating. Pantries try to fill bags/boxes with the same items.
Monetary donations are always the preferred option. It gives the pantries the option to buy foods that are needed to fill the bags/boxes with items they may not have on their shelves. You can mail your tax-deductible donation to: Rahway Food For Friends, 1221 New Brunswick Ave., Rahway, NJ.
To donate food, please call the pantry to make an appointment to drop off your donation, 732-381-7201. Address to drop off is 1221 New Brunswick Ave., Rahway, NJ (by appointment only).
- Cans and boxes only please. Do not donate foods in jars. They can break.
- Do not donate open or damage items.
- Do not donate loose items.
- Always check expiration dates.
Put like items in the donation bags. All donations are weighed, and items are listed. Mixed items bags take longer to sort and stock. Canned goods in a bag, pasta in another, etc.
Most pantries do not take clothes and household items. Please call and ask before dropping those items off.
Rahway Food for Friends are especially in need for the following for the holiday season:
- Turkeys, Turkey Breasts, Ham
- Stuffing/Dressing
- Pasta, Rice
- Boxed Mashed potatoes
- Canned Gravy
- Canned Vegetables
