Rahway Food For Friends Fights Hunger Amidst Pandemic

In the midst of much divisiveness and fear, heroes have arisen to help fight hunger.

Rahway Food For Friends has been feeding families for 30 years from their food pantry and soup kitchen. The recent pandemic created many challenges for our senior and disabled persons to get their food packages, so Rahway Food For Friends established a mobile pantry. Helping to combat food insecurity in our communities has been very trying as the lines have grown from 300 families prior to the pandemic to 600 families after. Our clients come from all over in search of food as many pantries are closing.

Rahway Food For Friends is staffed with a caring team and is blessed to have strong community support. The local Girl Scout troop and their leader Robyn Wooley Koenig and her cavalry of friends donated food, toys, placemats and their time. The Mayor of Rahway, Ray Giacobbe and the Rahway Police Department helped with grants, donations and a food drive to combat hunger and keep our doors open to serve those in need. Many cities and schools have taken to the cause and extended love and a genuine sense of care for our neighbors and friends who are struggling to make ends meet.

Rahway Food For Friends is located at 1221 New Brunswick Ave, Rahway, NJ 07065. Visit online at rahwayfoodforfriendsnj.org.
