“The Creation of the NP Community Pool” with Author/Cofounder Bert Abbazia (Adults)

Bert Abbazia, author of “The Creation of the New Providence Community Pool,” will speak about the New Providence Community Pool’s history and its founding 60 years ago this year. Make Your Own Macrame Plant Holder (Adults)

Macrame is the art of tying knots in patterns. Adults are invited to make a plant holder to hang up in your home with local crafter Gunjan Maheshwari! All materials will be provided. Batter Up – Let’s Talk Baseball (All Ages)

“Belfast” Movie & Discussion (Adults)
August 9 @ 1 PM – 3:15 PM
“Belfast” will be screened in the Conti Room. Written and directed by Kenneth Branagh, Belfast is a poignant story of love, laughter and loss in one boy’s childhood, amid the music and social tumult of the late 1960s. Buddy’s family lives in a largely Protestant district with a few Catholic families, but one day his community and everything he thought he understood about life is suddenly turned upside down. This PG-13 film is in English with subtitles for the hearing impaired. Everyone is welcome to join a discussion of the movie around 2:40 PM, moderated by library staff.

Book Group (Adults)

The book group will discuss “My Broken Language” by Quiara Alegria Hudes. In this memoir, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright tells the story of attempting to find the language that best fits her, along with the languages (English and Spanish) she heard throughout her childhood. The book group will discuss “My Own Words” by Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a compilation of the former Supreme Court Justice’s finest writing, beginning with an editorial for her school newspaper and culminating with highlights from the Supreme Court’s 2016 term. SAT & ACT Practice Exams (Teens)
August 23 & 25 @ 5:00 PM
Take a practice SAT or ACT to prepare yourself for the real thing! Offered virtually, these test dates will begin with a live ZOOM kick off by The Princeton Review, and will be timed, as the real tests are. Take on your own computer at home, and receive scores immediately upon completion. If you can’t make the dates, you can still sign up and take it any time after the original test date, on your own schedule. Register for either or both exams. Email to register: NPMLTeens@gmail.com
