New Providence Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshall John “Sean” McGovern

On Monday, May 28, 2018 the New Providence community honored the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving in this country’s armed forces.
This year’s Grand Marshall was John “Sean” McGovern, a resident of New Providence for 35 years. Sean is married to Ursula and they have two children, Jennifer and Brian.
Sean has been an American Legion member for 31 years. His service to Post 433 includes serving as Finance Officer, Chaplin, Service Officer, Vice Commander, and 12 years as Post Commander.  He also served as Union County American Legion Finance Officer for 2 years.
Sean was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He served 4 years in the US Air Force from 1968 to 1972 and was deployed overseas in the Republic of South Vietnam and Turkey.
