New Providence Lions Club Pays Tribute to Veterans

Tribute to our Veterans

Submitted by Linda Kale

The New Providence Lions held an impromptu “Tribute to our Veterans” in Veterans Park on Friday, May 22, 2020 to remember the courageous men and women who died in our nations service.

The Lions march each year in the New Providence Memorial Day Parade. “Because the parade was cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 virus a few Lions gathered to pay tribute to our veterans.” commented Ed Morgan, President of the New Providence Lions Club.

The American Flag in the photo is a special flag that the Lions carry each year in the parade. It was given to the club by the United States Marine Corps as a thank you for our help in collecting clothing, and personal items for a village they were helping in Iraq. This village was destroyed by Isis and the villagers were in desperate need. “Where there is a need there is a Lion.”

The New Providence Lions Club is a 501(c)3 organization, giving back to the community 100% of the proceeds raised. Organizations that benefit from our annual support include NP Recreation Dept., Fire Dept., Community Service Assoc., EMS Rescue Squad, Senior Citizens Center, PBA, NPHS Scholarships, NP Historical Society, Health Fair, NP Public Library, Drive for Autism, and many more!

Being a Lion empowers you to help others in a way that no one person could alone.

The Lions are dedicated to helping others. Lions make a difference!
