Katie Ledden Commits to Division 1 University

Clark resident Katie Ledden, a junior at Rutgers Preparatory School in Somerset, NJ, has recently committed to play Division 1 basketball at the University of Rhode Island on a full athletic scholarship.

Ledden has dreamed of playing Division 1 basketball since she was in third grade and started playing for the Clark Travel Basketball program, which she played for through 8th grade. She also played AAU basketball for Team Sharp under Coach Michele Sharp from 4th grade to 9th grade. Further, Ledden played for the Kumpf Middle School Basketball team, where she broke numerous school records, then played her freshman year at Arthur L. Johnson High School.

When Ledden was a sophomore, she transferred to Rutgers Prep, which is the #2 girls basketball team in the state and #17 in the country. Last spring and summer, Ledden played in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League for the Philadelphia Rise, where she was seen by hundreds of college coaches at various tournaments around the country.

Ledden was being recruited by 32 Division 1 schools and had received 9 official Division 1 offers before deciding to spend her collegiate career at URI. Some of the other schools who made official offers to Ledden were, St. Joseph’s University, the University of Pennsylvania, Quinnipiac University, and Bucknell University, to name a few.
