Girl Scouts Plant Daffodil Bulbs at Merchants and Drovers

For the second year in a row, members of the Rahway Garden Club have helped local Girl Scout Troop #40745 plant spring flowering daffodil bulbs on the grounds of the Merchants and Drovers Tavern Museum. On a bright and sunny November Saturday; the Scouts dug the holes needed, added some bone meal fertilizer and then placed a single bulb into each hole and then covered the bulb with soil. Over 100 bulbs in total were planted.
The Scouts thanked the Rahway Garden Club for a wonderful day of planting bulbs. “Our scouts really enjoyed it and are so enthusiastic about gardening. Thank you for your guidance in teaching the girls how to plant. My hope is that they develop a lifelong love of gardening and taking care of our earth” noted scout team leader Kristina Junkroft.
The Rahway Garden Club supervised the young gardeners as parents looked on. Afterwards, warm apple cider and ginger snaps were served in the historic kitchen of the Merchants and Drovers Tavern Museum.
