Giovanna DeRobertis of Rahway Successfully Completes Girl Scout Project

Giovanna DeRobertis, an Ambassador Girl Scout from Rahway, New Jersey, who attends Magnet High School in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, has successfully completed her Girl Scout project entitled, “Spirit Alive.” Giovanna has been a Girl Scout for 12 years. This program has an emphasis on prayer, study of scripture, documents of Vatican II, and service to others. It took eight months to complete, including her community service project.
It was her fourth and final Diocesan Award. Girl Scouts and Scouts Leaders from Union County and the entire Diocese of Newark who have achieved their medals and emblems or have been nominated for various awards are honored each year at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark. At this service, usually held the first Sunday of March, Scouts and Leaders are formally presented and recognized with their awards by the Archdiocese. Reverend Timothy Graff presided over the recognition ceremony.
For the 2017-18 school year Girl Scout Sunday Prayer Service and Celebration was held on March 4, 2018, at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.
