February is fabulous at the Garwood Public Library. Adults may enjoy our Valentine Craft on February 6, 2018, at 6 p.m. or the Knitting Club every Monday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. (needles and yarn provided). On Fridays at 10 a.m., relax and watch a movie; enjoy some beverages and sweet treats too. On February 15 at 7 p.m., come listen to the band, Rewind. All the band members are from Jersey including the drummer Ken Cohen from Kenilworth. They will be playing all your favorites from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. While you’re here, enter our Valentine’s contest. Match the first line of each book to the popular romance novel it comes from and get a valentine treat and a chance to win a special gift.
Kids may also enjoy February programing. Play chess at Kid’s Chess every Monday at 3 p.m. If science is more your thing, join us for “Design It” our engineering club on Tuesdays at 3 p.m. or “Inventive Investigation” our STEM program on Wednesdays at 3 p.m. For the little ones there is Storytime on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and LEGO club on Thursdays, February 8 and 22 for those 4 to 12 years of age. If you enjoy arts and crafts, make a Pop-Up penguin at Kid’s Craft on the 15th.
All ages will enjoy the library museum pass program. Thanks to a grant from the Union County Freeholders, the Garwood Public Library is offering museum passes to the following museums: The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum an American military and maritime history museum located in New York City; Grounds for Sculpture a 42-acre sculpture park and museum located in Hamilton; Imagine That a hands on children’s museum in Florham Park that caters to pre-school and young school children; The Newark Museum, one of New Jersey’s largest art museums and home to the Dreyfuss Planetarium, Victoria Hall of Science and Ballantine House and Liberty Hall an American historic site located on the grounds of Kean University. Passes may be borrowed by adult, residents, in good standing with the Library.
