The Garwood Library is now open to the public Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Five people are permitted in the library at a time for thirty minutes. No appointments needed. The staff is available to assist with copying and faxing. One computer is available for printing or a quick check of email. Social distancing and masks are required. Curbside service is also available when the library is open. The Library will be closed, December 24, 25 and 31 for the holidays.

A meeting of the Garwood Library Board of Trustees will take place on, Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. in the Library. This meeting is open to the public. Masks and social distancing are required

The Garwood Library in collaboration with Mad Science and Image Arts Academy present the Art of Conservation on Wednesdays, December 2, 9 and 16. at 3:30 p.m. Learn about endangered animals. Then experiment with a variety of art techniques to create animal-inspired art projects., from frog painting to polar bear sculptures. The program is open to children in grades 1 to 6. Please register for the class by phone or on the Garwood Library’s events calendar. The class is limited to 20 participants.

Come visit Santa, the cardboard variety, on Saturday December 5thor 12th, from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. by appointment and weather permitting. The Library will place its holiday backdrop outside along with a cardboard Santa for family photo opportunity. Grab a  take away picture frame craft on your way home. Registration is required. Limit 12 families per Saturday

On Monday, December 7th, local author, Laura Sassi, will be joining second and third graders via Zoom. Laura will be sharing her picture book; Love Is Kind, recently published in Spanish. This charming and heartfelt tale celebrates the bond kids have with their grandparents and the many forms that love and happiness can take. Laura will read the story in English and highlight some key Spanish phrases. Signed and personalized copies will also be available for purchase.

Join us for Virtual Kid’s Craft on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 3 p.m. Pick up supplies from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on December 8. A craft tutorial will appear on Facebook Premiere on the Library’s Facebook page on December 8 at 3 p.m. The video will be available for viewing thereafter. Registration is required and is limited to 15 participants. Sign up on the Library website’s events calendar or by phone.

Zoom Lego continues on Thursday, December 3, 10 and 17. Join us at 3:30 p.m. each Thursday for a new build. Sign up on the calendarsection of Garwood Public Library’s website or give us a call. The Zoom link will be sent to you by email.
