The New Providence Mental Health Advocacy & Education Committee along with The Mental Health Association of NJ are conducting Free QPR Gateway Training for our community youth leaders and coaches that serve our youth. Educate yourself and give back to your community while earning a professional certification.

What does QPR stand for?

Just like CPR, QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is an emergency response to someone in crisis. These are three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. Sponsored by the New Providence Mental Health Advocacy & Education Committee (NP MHAE) in partnership with the Mental Health Association of New Jersey, this free training is available to all NP citizens.

Key Components of Training:

  • How to Question, Persuade, and Refer someone who may be suicidal
  • How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide
  • The common causes of suicidal behavior
  • The warning signs of suicide
  • How to get help for someone in crisis
  • Who should get QPR training?
  • Parents, coaches, youth leaders, any NP citizen
