Franklin Elementary School holds Student Lighthouse Elections

Student Lighthouse Elections

Rahway Public Schools

Students at Franklin Elementary School in Rahway recently voted for their Student Lighthouse President and Vice President. The students were nominated by their teachers based on their academic work ethic, role-model behavior, and eagerness to put forth positive change at their school. Candidates recorded speeches that classroom teachers were able to share with their students so that they could become more familiar with the candidates. The students used actual voting machines that were brought to the school so they were able to experience what it’s like to vote in an actual election. Congratulations to the winners, President Alyssa and Vice President Javon. The Student Lighthouse is a part of the Leader in Me program in which the students learn and practice Stephen Covey’s proven 7 Habits to empower them with leadership and life skills to help them thrive in the 21st century. It was an exciting day for all.
