Fire Department Hosted a Fun-Filled Firehouse Frenzy

Fire Department Hosted a Fun-Filled Firehouse Frenzy For Boys Entering Grades First Through Fifth

Kids got to squirt a fire hose, do real archery, tour a fire truck, eat hot dogs, tie knots they could eat, battled robots, and drive radio-controlled cars around an obstacle course! They were also able to make their own Pinewood Derby cars and race them, or sail mini boats along rain gutters. All these highlighted the kinds of fun activities that boys get to do in the Cub Scouts program.
While Cub Scouts is all about fun for the kids, it is fun with a purpose – that of raising confident, inquisitive, resilient, cooperative and respectful boys. As they continue from Cub Scouts into Boy Scouts through middle school and high school they take those principles to a higher level through fun-filled and challenging activities such as canoe treks, backpacking trips, crewing a sail boat, SCUBA diving and other high adventures. They also learn STEM skills through scout engineering and robotics.
Along the way they learn to communicate and lead, explore potential careers through the merit badge program, and give back through community service.
The Firehouse Frenzy open house was held at the Berkeley Heights Firehouse on 411 Hamilton Ave., Berkeley Heights. To find out more, about the Scouts, email recruit@bhpack368.org
