Clark Little League Majors Farewell Game

The Clark Little League had a special farewell game for the departing 12 year old players on Saturday June 12, 2021 at Bosze Field in Clark, NJ.

The game was organized by Tim Brand, who also arranged for the 12 year old’s to have a special game jersey. Coaches on both teams prepared the field for the game. Jim Gilbert announced the game. Christopher Brand recited the Little League Pledge before the game. Christopher Brand and  JJ Marinelli helped out with the scoreboard controller.

The coaches worked together to fairly pick the players that would represent the American and National League teams.

The American League team was coached by Craig Gibson, Vin Gioffre and Brendon Sullivan.

The players for the American League were; Hudson Couto, Noah Gibson, Ryan Gilbert, Giancarlo Gioffre, Jack Pellino, Andrew Quiroz, Connor Stoll, Sean Sullivan,  Jacob Szczygiel, and Andres Ubides.

The National League Team was coached by Sean Thompson, Rob Raparelli, and Steve Kershaw.

The players for the National League were; Jonny Breunig, Evan Cesare, Vinny Cilento, TJ Kershaw, Matt Lettini, Anthony Marcantonio, Brandon Raparelli, Manny Rendeiro, Louis Ricigliano, and Kyle Thompson.

12 Year Old’s that were unable to participate in the game were; Gio Donofrio, Frankie Fabio, Max Faria and Sam Zapatoka.

During the game all the players participated in two skills competitions. At the end of the second inning there was a throwing accuracy competition. Players from both teams would throw the ball from short centerfield and try to hit a netted object at home plate. 5 points for throwing ball into net on a fly, 3 points for bouncing into the net, and 1 point for hitting the object. The National League won the competition 9-5. At the end of the 4th inning there was a relay race around the bases.  The National League started on second base and the American League started at home plate.  Instead of using a baton, each runner held a baseball as they ran. Each runner would have to run all the way around and return to where they started and pass the baseball to the next runner. The National League team won this competition by finishing ahead of the American League.

The umpires for the game were; Dennis Caton and Ben Weintraub.

The National League team won the game 5-0.  But that really wasn’t the story here. It was a great chance for them to be recognized and to have one more game of baseball with their friends at Bosze Field.
