Kathleen Havens, is a long time Chatham Township resident, founding member and 20-year board member of the Art League of the Chathams.

An award-winning artist, whose style is known for strong composition, line and exciting bold colors, Kathy’s 3-decade retrospective includes mostly landscapes and still-life’s. She works in many kinds of media: oils, pastels, colored pencils and encaustics.

Havens states: “Drawing inspiration from the great masters of art from late19th c. through mid-to-late 20th c., I created my own style which evolved over decades of work while studying closely how they used color, composition and line. I was more expressive and bolder in my oil paintings and pastels of people; still-life’s and landscapes at first for many years.

More recently, I’ve found much inspiration from landscapes (from my photographs, mostly) and have become more impressionistic with my pastels and oils.”

Kathy is also a member of Drew Art Association, NJ Art Association and Pastel Society of NJ and exhibits continuously in their art shows. She has had many solo art shows.

Chatham Twp. resident, photographer, and official Art League Photographer, Larry Kerner found his inspiration while hiking and camping as a young boy. The aura brought Larry Kerner into the grandeur of nature and respect for the preservation of wilderness. The West Coast piqued his interest and he began capturing the images on film in color and black and white. Since then, the camera became his eyes. His interpretations range from cloud capped canyons to tumbling mountain streams and waterfalls.

For the past few years, Kerner won first place in the annual international photo competition of Block Drug of Jersey City, where he worked as an engineer.

Twelve of his beautiful landscapes have been permanently placed in the lobby of the Women’s Neurological Facility in Upper Saddle River.

He is a member of the Vailsburg Camera Club of Springfield and many environmental organizations, as well as  a longtime member of the Art League Of The Chathams.
Kerner also volunteers his time and photography skills to assist the Morris Land Conservancy, Habitat for Humanity, The Art League of The Chathams and various health organizations with their health walks.

In addition to exhibiting art, the Art League donates $1,000 from the Rosemary Howlett Scholarship Fund to a Chatham senior student who intends to pursue a career in an artistic field.
