Submitted by Justin Montanaro

The Kiwanis Club of the Chathams/Madison applied and received a grant from The Foundation of the New Jersey Kiwanis International to be given to the Morris Plains Interfaith Food Pantry. The three hundred dollar grant was given in addition to a one thousand dollar check receivedearlier in the year.

Kiwanians work in conjunction with local high school Key Clubs for fundraising and scholarship efforts. The Madison Key Club has contributed to the pantry as well, frequently holding food drives at their location.

The Interfaith Food Pantry has supported upwards of 20,700 families this year who have experienced food insecurity. Over 1.1 million pounds of food have been distributed so far this year according to the pantry’s director – Carolyn Lake.

If you would like to contribute food, baby diapers, or grocery store gift cards – you are encouraged to call the Interfaith Food Pantry at 973-538-8049. They are always looking for volunteers to stock items for pickup from the facility. If you or anyone you know is in need of their services, you can also give them a call at the same number.
