Young Scientists Show Their Creativity at Coles’ Annual Science Fair

J.A. Coles School in Scotch Plains held their annual Science Fair in February. The Science Fair is a non-competitive PTA-sponsored event which gives the opportunity for Coles students in grades 1 to 4 to showcase various scientific interests and explorations.

A total of 160 students participated in the fair of which 35 were first graders, 28 second graders, 45 third graders and 52 fourth graders. There were individual as well as team presentations of 77 projects.

Students presented on various topics including volcanoes, magnets, correlation between propeller size and thrust, gravity, alternative ways to inflate balloons, elephant toothpaste, crystals, hydraulics and environmental studies.
