The Square Dance is an American institution. It began in New England when the first settlers and immigrant groups that followed brought with them their popular dances of the countries of their origin.

Square Dancing expanded rapidly in the 1940s. In addition to schools offering the activity, many American GI’s were introduced to square dancing at U.S.O. cantinas. Square dancing continued to expand because of improved technology in recording media, microphones, sound systems, transportation, roads and also because of a growing economy.

The aim of Square Dancing is for people to have fun. In addition, square dancing is an excellent form of low impact physical exercise as well as being mentally stimulating. Come join us and see if square dancing is for you!
