Westfield Foundation Grant Awarded to Nina Pitre

Nina Pitre, a junior at Westfield High School, was awarded the 2016 Summer Youth Employment Grant from the Westfield Foundation and was employed at the NJWA Summer Workshop this past summer. The Westfield Foundation funds a variety of organizations, enabling them to hire students, like Nina, and afford them the opportunity to gain workplace skills and experience that provide a foundation for future employment endeavors.
Nina has studied piano for several years and has been a member of the Westfield varsity golf team where she is currently a team captain. She is active in the Westfield community, participating in Mobile Meals as well as being a peer minister at Holy Trinity Church. Nina is also an avid traveler.
Nina performed various administrative duties at the NJWA Summer Workshop, assisting with registration, scheduling and inventory. She continued her administrative duties throughout the duration of camp as well as assisted in various art classes and the early morning drop off program. Her responsibilities also included helping out on the Art Expo Night, an evening open house that showcased the accomplishments of the students. Camp director Pamela Aslin stated that Ms. Pitre “exceeded her expectations” and that she was an “outstanding employee who demonstrated great organizational skills and was a perfect fit on our Summer Workshop staff.”
The NJWA Summer Workshop offers an energized curriculum in the area of the fine arts and sciences and is a division of the New Jersey Workshop for the Arts, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, located at 150-152 East Broad Street, Westfield.
