It is with a great deal of pleasure that Watchung Avenue Presbyterian Church (WAPC) is welcoming Madelynne B. Lindsey back to their pulpit to lead their worship service. The congregation so thoroughly enjoyed her previous engagement that as soon as they learned she was available again they jumped at the chance to have her return.
Madelynne is a Commissioned Ruling Elder as well as a Commissioned Lay Pastor. She graduated from New Brunswick Theological Seminary and has completed numerous online certifications at The University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in Iowa.
She also has a wonderfully diverse set of skills. She is a trained coloratura soprano soloist, was hired to perform a concert for the Women’s League of Voters and also had the honor of singing a solo for Bishop Desmond Tutu at St. Philips Episcopal Cathedral in Newark. She has written and directed plays for Christmas Worship Services and took part in the worship service for Ash Wednesday in 2015 which included two Baptist Congregations and the Metuchen Presbyterian Church and the Community Presbyterian Church in Edison.
Her church administrative involvement is also very impressive. She was a Commissioner of the 222ndPresbyterian General Assembly in 2016. She served as Secretary for the National Black Presbyterian Caucus for three years, and served on a Multi-cultural Initiative Committee, the Committee of Ministry for central New Jersey, and she recently chaired the Leadership Pastoral Nominative Search Committee for the General Presbyter’s position. She is currently Vice Moderator for the Elizabeth Presbytery and will be the Moderator in September of 2018.
The WAPC congregation is extremely thankful that Madelynne will be leading our worship and our mission lives. Her energy, personal vibe and her charisma are truly magnetic and we expect she will lead us to new and exciting ways to serve or North Plainfield and nearby neighbors!
