Late Night @ The Library Story Time
Each weekday evening at 7:30 p.m. the Warren Township Schools’ librarians are taking turns hosting a virtual story time session called, “Late Night @ The Library.” All interested Warren students and their siblings are encouraged to listen along each evening.
Late Night @ The Library was thoughtfully created by the Warren Township Schools’ librarians, Ms. Christine Burkhardt, Ms. Cynthia Cassidy, Mrs. Susan Jackson, Mrs. Lindsay LaNeve, and Mrs. Amanda McGrath. Just like Warren Township teachers, the librarians understand the need for students to feel connected to their school community while learning from home. The hope is that this program brings some comfort, joy, and relaxation to the children.
Students are able to submit comments or questions about the books that are read and the librarians will review and respond back. If a student is late to the program or misses a story they have the ability to view a recording of each story that is read.
According to the feedback that the librarians have received, students are grateful for the experience, happy with the book choices, and very entertained by the different voices the librarians are using while reading.
On the flip side, the librarians are enjoying the experience just as much as the students. “I had no idea how much I’ve missed reading picture books aloud, and hearing from my students about how much they enjoyed seeing me again has meant the world,” added LaNeve.
Be sure to check out the Late Night @ The Library. Jackson reminds us, “reading takes us to other places when we can’t get there right now. So, the libraries might be closed, but the books must still be opened.”
