The Warren Township Board of Education approved a list of supplemental virtual after school activities during its meeting on Monday, April 27.

Dr. Matthew Mingle stated, “I am pleased to announce 23 new after school activity options for students in grades PreK through 8! Beginning Monday, May 4 students will have opportunities to explore a variety of enrichment activities that extend learning and fun peer engagement beyond the typical Flexible Instruction Day. For the first time, these experiences will also create cross-school interactions as the distance learning environment allows us to break through traditional logistical challenges.”

Staff members including substitute teachers were invited to submit club proposals which will be offered to all students. Clubs vary in topics from Creative Writing, Creative Building & Architecture, DIY, Countries and Cultures Around the World, Warren’s Got Talent, Yoga and so much more.

Students will participate with their peers and club advisors during these activities through synchronous and asynchronous videos, online games, and other digital platforms. Parents were provided a list of activities and a short description of each club along with a registration form to sign up.

Mingle is thankful to the staff members who with very little time developed an extensive list of virtual activities. “On behalf of all of us at the Warren Township Schools, I hope these new opportunities provide hours of engagement and enjoyment for your children,” added Mingle.

As of May 12 over 200 students are enrolled and participating in one or more virtual supplemental after school activity.
