Warren Township Library Sponsors: “BROgrams”

In April, the Warren Township Library began support of “BROgrams”, an interest group for men eager to expand their world and who are enthusiastic about sharing personal interests and pastimes with others. The recently launched group plans to meet every 4th Tuesday of the month (7-9pm) at the Warren Township Library to discuss the “topic” of the month. The topic – itself to be driven by members – can be any hobby, sport, or recreational pastime that has popular appeal among members, and of which one of the members is knowledgeable and eager to share his passion.

At the inaugural meeting on April 28, Matthieu Leger led a well-received interactive discussion on “How to Take Great Photos”. On May 26, Rich Loomis, Digital Services Manager with SCLS, will lead the discussion about utilizing an incredibly capable, low-cost ($35!), credit-card sized computer (aka “Raspberry Pi”), that plugs into a monitor or TV, and uses a standard keyboard and mouse. This simple technology device is capable of doing everything you’d expect a desktop computer to do, from browsing the internet and playing high-definition video, to making spreadsheets, word-processing, and playing games. On June 23, certified archery coach Alex Dunham will present “An Intro to Archery”. This fascinating sport, which has grown in popularity in recent years, can be practiced at any age. The group’s goal is to also have optional “hands-on outings” once a month – between the Library sessions – to take the recent learning to the next level.

“BROgrams” is being facilitated by Fred DaVeiga, 20-year Warren resident, financial advisor, and golf enthusiast. This event is free and open to the public.
