On Saturday, May 20, 2017, students from the Blue and Gold Club at Franklin Elementary School in Rahway visited the Friends of the Linden Animal Shelter in Linden with their club advisors, Mrs. Barbara Maher and Ms. Kym Adams. The club brought 3 boxes of donations filled with items such as blankets, toys, food, snacks, kitty litter, and bowls. The items were generously donated to the school as part of a collection on behalf of the animal shelter. They also brought 2 bags of homemade dogs treats that the kids made themselves.
Afterward, the kids enjoyed a nice nature walk through the Hawk Rise Sanctuary. It was a really nice time and the kids in this club really enjoy helping the community. They are a fine example of community service and the positive impact it can have on the community.
