Vibhay Chaturvedi of Berkeley Heights Wins Chess Tournament

Vibhay Chaturvedi of Watchung Mountains Troop 368, and a resident of Berkeley Heights, won First Place in The Munsee District of Boy Scouts 5th Annual Chess Tournament.
Gleeson Sean of Watchung Mountain Troop 368, and a resident of Berkeley Heights was also in attendance.
The tournament was held at the Cranford Community Center, Cranford, New Jersey, on February 24, 2018. Sponsored by Renna Media, trophies were awarded to first, second, and third place finishers. The tournament met the 6a requirement for earning a Chess merit badge. First Place prizes were chess sets in traveling cases.
Thirty-six contestants participated, with players coming from as far as Franklin, Lake Hopatcong, and Rockaway. The owner of Big Apple Pizzeria on Walnut Avenue, Cranford, donated lunch for all participants and spectators.
Last year’s winner, Linden resident, Youssef Diakite returned as a volunteer and assistant tournament director.
