Chat and Chew with the Counselor
Clark Public Schools
Chat and Chew meetings, held by School Counselor Sarah Badillo, have been a large success at Valley Road School. At these meetings, students have the opportunity throughout the week to join virtually and socialize with one another. Badillo stated, “I came up with the idea of Chat and Chew because not only is education important but socialization during times when playdates are happening less often and the school days are so short is also critical.”
These meetings last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and those who join spend time chatting, playing games, and even jamming out with their instruments. “There are times I have a goal of what I would like us to focus on during our Chat and Chew, but we end up going in a different direction. However, we have the same outcome of fun, socialization, laughs, and a sense of we are in this together,” added Badillo.
Third grader, Fiona Genova, who is a frequent visitor of Chat and Chew adds, “I like laughing and eating while I am with my friends.”
Second graders Gigi and Lulu Cannici also express the same feelings toward Chat and Chew, “It is nice to have a chance to interact with students in other classes and grades. We look forward to seeing what Mrs. Badillo will do each time! The laughs are non-stop and it is always so much fun!”
Students at Valley Road can find the weekly schedule for Chat and Chew on Mrs. Badillo’s Google Classroom.
