Troop 80 at Boy Scouts Camporee
Submitted by Peter McDevitt
Cranford’s Troop 80 participated in the BSA Pioneer District’s annual Camporee from October 13-15, 2023. This year the event was held at the Round Valley Reservoir in Lebanon, NJ.
At the campout, the Scouts participated in a cake-baking contest, where they baked a chocolate cherry lava cake in a Dutch oven using only charcoal for heat. They also worked on their Cooking Merit Badge by making a dinner of steak fajitas, with chopped peppers and onions, on their camp stoves.
Troop 80 is chartered by the First Presbyterian Church of Cranford, which is located at 11 Springfield Ave. The troop meets on Mondays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and organizes monthly camping and hiking trips for the weekends.
