Troop 63 Conquers Gettysburg

Submitted by John Staunton

Boy Scout Troop 63 from New Providence, New Jersey recently visited Gettysburg National Military Park where they camped for two nights and visited the historic sites during the day. While there were no battles fought on the fields, the scouts did have to deal with a heavy rain storm with over 2” of rain in a single night. The scout motto is “Be Prepared” and these scouts showed they were prepared for Mother Nature.
After a sunny afternoon on the Confederate side of the park, the scouts braved the rain to tour the Union side on day two, after which they visited the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum.
Troop 63 is open to boys age 11-17 and meets on Tuesday nights at the New Providence Presbyterian Church. For more information email: scouts@troop63np.org
