Colorado Nurses Join Trinitas in Fight Against COVID-19
Twenty Registered Nurses from Colorado-based Centura Health were warmly welcomed to Trinitas Regional Medical Center this week. The nurses are part of a “Heroes Helping Heroes” initiative that involves a total of 34 Centura Health nurses that are assisting Trinitas in Elizabeth, St. Joseph’s Health, Paterson, and Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, New Brunswick. The three hospitals are part of the Catholic Healthcare Partnership of NJ, and all have witnessed high numbers of COVID-19 patients in recent weeks.
According to Gary S Horan, FACHE, President and CEO of Trinitas Regional Medical Center and Chair of the Partnership, “These professionals from Centura are literally coming to New Jersey at the right moment. Six solid weeks of ever increasing numbers of COVID patients have taken a toll on all our hospitals. This is an excellent example of Mission in action.”
Trinitas is benefitting from nine nurses who will work in the Emergency Department, and 11 nurses who will work in the Medical/Surgical units over the next four weeks.
“We are very grateful for every nurse who volunteered to come to New Jersey during this historic time. Together with our staff, they are part of a wonderful humanitarian effort that is saving lives,” Horan explained.
