THE WEST END PTA 2ND ANNUAL FALL FAMILY DANCE

The 2nd Annual Fall Family Dance party will be held on October 28th in the West End Community Room for West End School families. It starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm.
The West End PTA’s Family Fun Night series, are several themed nights throughout the school year held to give West End families the opportunity to meet and get together for nonschool related events. It gives our families a chance to connect and come together as a community, which we don’t often get to do in the day-to-day rush of school, work, sports and other extra-curricular activities. Programs range from dances to movie nights to presentations by animal experts and more.
In an effort to be as inclusive as possible, the dance is Fall themed. There is a good chunk of our community who do not celebrate Halloween and we do not want to alienate them. Keeping the dance, a general Fall theme allows us to have our doors open to everyone.
We have hired JVE Entertainment Partners as our DJ service. JVE DJ’d our dance last year as well as our Annual School Fair. This company really knows how to work the crowd and get everyone up and dancing, learning a new line dance, or playing a game. There are decorations to set the festive mood and a selfie station to make memories of the event. Beverages and snacks are available for purchase, but the event is otherwise free.
Last year’s dance was a lot of fun. Seeing adults and kids out on the dance floor together was great. I would say that the line dances were the favorite – they gave everyone the chance to either learn something new or demonstrate their prowess. It was also interesting to see what songs the kids would react to as compared to what the adults favored, but in the end, there was a lot of parents and guardians out on the floor just sharing a special moment with their kids. So many adults thanked the PTA on their way out and said it was a great time that we knew we were going to have to make it an annual event.
