Rotary Club of Union, NJ is invested in the global fight amid the challenges during COVID-19 by donating food and medical supplies to the community. It is our sincere goal to help individuals and organizations in the community especially during these trying times.

It was the goal of the organization’s President, Rob O’Connell, to support those local establishments that donate to Rotary’s Automobilia charity event each November. Weekly food donations from Union Township restaurants such as Café Z, Padonno’s Pizzeria, Cozy Corner Deli & Caterers, and Johnny Napkins were made to the Union Emergency Medical Unit during the month of April.

“The Rotary Club of Union, NJ did it again! Thank you again to everyone who is thinking about us!” Union Emergency Medical Unit.

Charlie Minton and Geralanne Maglione, both Rotary Club of Union members, personally answered an urgent request from the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Food Pantry for non-perishable food delivered to the YMCA in Scotch Plains, NJ.

For the month of May, Rotary has committed to supply the Union Township Food Pantry with much needed non-perishable items each week.

“Your thoughtfulness and generosity during these especially hard times will help those in need feed their families” stated Eileen Birch, Township Clerk.

Rotary Club also donated 100 N95 masks, 30 face shields and 60 disposable gowns to Overlook Medical Center of Summit, NJ. This donation was received by fellow Rotarian, Michael Atanasio, who is the Director of Food & Nutrition, Parking and Patient Transportation at Overlook.

“This is just one way our club can show our enormous appreciation for our frontline workers and to assure those with food insecurities are taken care of” stated President, Rob O’Connell.

The Rotary Club of Union welcomes any member of the community who might like to join our group in our mission “Service above self.” Meetings are held every Thursday at the Suburban Country Club at 12:15 p.m. For more information about Rotary, please contact Membership Chair, Sharon Patel at 908-964-6422, or visit  unionrotary.org.
