The Mountainside Active Retiree club

At the December 11, 2018 meeting of the Mountainside Active Retirees, Mountainside resident, and Harpist,  Joanne Hanson entertained the group with a beautiful selection of music for the holidays.

The meeting was well attended with over 40 members and guests anxious to hear Ms. Hanson play and also participate in the clubs 2nd annual cookie swap.

At age 5, Joanne moved with her family from Kansas City to Mountainside, attending Mountainside schools and graduating from Governor Livingston High School. She received her Master’s degree from Indiana University.

As a classical performer, Joanne has performed with symphonic and opera orchestras. Entertainment venues include Ascona, Switzerland, the Queen Elizabeth II cruise line, and the Helmsley Hotels of New York. She has also enjoyed playing in backup groups for Jose Feliciano, the Irish Tenors, Frank Sinatra Jr., Johnny Mathis, and was principal harpist of the New Jersey Pops for 10 years.

The Mountainside Active Retiree club was founded in 1983 and is open to all Mountainside residents who are at least 55 years of age, retired and/or wish they were retired.

Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month in the Community Room, 2nd floor of Borough Hall at 10 a.m.
